Tell the U.S. Senate, It is time to put Gender in the U.S. Constitution

Our generation is taking up the decades-long struggle to make the Equal Rights Amendment the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution. It has been almost 100 years--No more excuses, we need gender, and gender protections, in the Constitution now. We need #ERANow.

Senate Joint Resolution 1 is a joint resolution to remove the time limit Congress put on the Equal Rights Amendment. The House of Representatives passed the bill removing the time limit from the ERA on Wednesday, March 17,2021. Now it’s time for the Senate to do the same! Contact your senators and help mobilize your communities for the vote! Every contact helps!

Script: My name is [Your Name] and I am calling as a constituent of [Senator] to say we need the ERA Now. I am calling today to ask you cosponsor SJR 1 and vote yes when it’s introduced into the senate. The bill would allow for the ratification of the ERA, a proposed US constitutional amendment that seeks the end of gender discrimination in the United States. I am asking you to show up for your constituents who experience gender discrimination. I also urge you to encourage your colleagues to do the same. We will remember who stood with us at this historic moment. This has been a decades-long fight, and we can no longer wait. We are calling on you to be on the right side of history and be with us in this fight. Thank you so much for your time!
